Introducing Youth Terrace and Our Mission
Youth Terrace is a platform whose objective is making society a place where young people can make independent decisions regarding reproductive health and rights based on their future career plans. It is operated by the Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) Women’s Health Project. Our project gathers various parties including young people, universities and other educational institutions, midwives and other healthcare professionals, healthcare institutions, private companies, and government agencies for three main activities: providing comprehensive sex education, offering information and consultations at Youth Café events, and conducting research and making policy recommendations
According to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), good sexual and reproductive health is “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being in all matters relating to the reproductive system” (Reference: UNFPA https://www.unfpa.org/sexual-reproductive-health). Reproductive rights refer your rights make your own choices about your sexual and reproductive health. When discussed together, these concepts are often referred to as “Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights,” or SRHR for short

We provide online and in-person consultations on reproductive health and rights. All consultations are provided by midwives who have completed health education workshops that were designed to meet global standards.
From November 2021 to March 2022, in-person consultation events will be held at venues near Keio University Mita Campus, Keio University Hiyoshi Campus, the University of Tokyo, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Waseda University, Rikkyo University, and Hitotsubashi University, so please feel free to visit us. In addition, face-to-face consultations on reproductive health and rights will also be provided at Youth Café events. Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)
Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)
In this initiative, midwives who have completed health education workshops designed to meet global standards give comprehensive sex education (CSE) lectures at universities, junior colleges, vocational schools, and other institutes of higher education.
Our program was designed to provide CSE to university students after consulting specialists across various fields and while referencing resources like the comprehensive and internationally recognized International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education published by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). This program is used during lectures at the universities and other schools that apply.
